LAUREL - Barbara A. (Bailey) Fisher of Laurel died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 56.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Nassawaddox, Va., daughter of Frank Sr. and Katherine (Simpson) Bailey of Delmar.
She grew up in Delmar, where she attended Delmar High School.
She worked many years in the poultry industry, where she grew chickens and worked as a vaccinator. Most recently, she was proud to be a homemaker, raising and taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Fisher cherished the time spent with family, and lived for family dinners and holidays, especially Christmas. She was a fan of NASCAR and dirt-track racing, and hardly missed a Saturday-night race for 25 years at the Delaware International Speedway, Delmar. She loved watching and supporting the Jesse Duplantis Ministries Gospel Hour on TBN. She also was a fan of country music; George Strait and Alan Jackson were her favorite artists.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Bailey.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Fisher; her parents, Frank Sr. and Katherine Bailey; a son, Herman Powell, and his companion, Gloria White, both of Delmar; a daughter, Kathy Powell, and her fiancé, Richard Zach, both of Laurel; three grandchildren, Jamie, Brittany and Andrea; a brother and a sister-in-law, Frank Jr. and his wife Karen Bailey of Pittsville, Md.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie Bailey of Parsonsburg, Md., and Sandra and Christopher McGinnis of Delmar; and two nieces and three nephews, Candace, Brian, Jessica, Jason and Scottie.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Line United Methodist Church Cemetery, Delmar.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Susie's Cause, The Colon Cancer Foundation, 201 N. Charles St., Suite 2404, Baltimore, MD 21201.
