Aurelia Waples

Aurelia (Benson) Waples, 86

SEAFORD - Aurelia (Benson) Waples departed this life Friday, May 2, 2008, at Genesis Seaford Center, Seaford. She was 86.

She was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Slaughter Neck, to the late William Benson and Geneva (Shockley) Waples.

She attended school in the Slaughter Neck and Milford district, achieving the second highest honor in her class.

Later, Aurelia was united in marriage to the late Lewis Mcquinley Waples.

She served dutifully in several homes in Delaware as a domestic worker, and was loved by all.

Aurelia accepted Christ in her life at a early age. She joined the W.F.G. Holiness Church of Lincoln, and ordained as the "Mother of the Church," secretary and treasurer of pastors aid committee, and president of the kitchen staff.

She worked and supported her church faithfully.

Aurelia was a kind loving and giving person.

She loved to sing hymns, cook, work crossword puzzles and watch game shows.

Aurelia leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Pastor Percilla M. Mullen; her son-in-law, Dennis L. Mullen of Greenwood; goddaughter, Dorretha Cornish of Lincoln; granddaughter, Dotheadus Brinkley of Dover; three grandsons, Minister Tobias (Philana) Mullen of Dover, John Cornish Jr. of Lincoln, and Khalif F. Mullen of Greenwood; two great-granddaughters, Tanika (Clarence) Baskerville of Charlotte, N.C., and Alyssa P. Brinkley of Dover; two great-grandsons, Micheal Brinkley Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C., and Tevon David (Katrina) Brinkley of Dover; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three aunts, Sarah A. Shockley of Lincoln, Sarah J. Shockley of Wilmington, and Audrey Shockley of Harrisburg, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Nehemiah 6.3 Faith Builders Ministry, Inc., 20516 Jefferson Road, County RD No. 38, Lincoln, where a viewing will be held two hours prior.

Interment will be at Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
