SEAFORD - Arthur Wesley Shepherd, formerly of Seaford, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, after a short battle with cancer, at Baybreeze Nursing & Retirement Center, Gulf Breeze, Fla. He was 63.
Mr. Shepherd was a son of the late Wesley and Margaret Shepherd of Milton.
After retiring from the Dupont nylon plant in Seaford, he enjoyed spending his days gardening, swimming and fishing.
Mr. Shepherd was a member of and emergency medical technician for the Blades Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a member of the Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Seaford.
After moving to Florida, he became an active member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze, and continued to indulge in his love of the outdoors.
Mr. Shepherd is survived by two daughters, Sharon Marie and Susan Renee, both of Laurel; a grandson, Joshua Adam of Millsboro; a sister, Joyce M. Dorris of Florida; a brother, John T. Shepherd of Pennsylvania; three nieces, Michele D. Webb of Georgetown, Melissa L. Greene of Maryland and Mia R. Wright of Milford; his wife of 30 years, Patricia A. Shepherd of Gulf Breeze; three stepchildren, Debbie Morris of Bridgeville, Allen McIlvain of Dover and Doug McIlvain of Georgetown; and seven step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandy, Katie, Jonathan, Shavon, Jackie and Bryan.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Blades Fire Department. Father John of Our Lady of Lourdes will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Arthur Shepherd"s name to Delaware Hospice Society, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
