Arthur Wesley Langston

Langston, 90 DOVER - Arthur Wesley Langston departed this life on Nov. 6, 2012 at Westminster Nursing Home in Dover. Mr. Langston was born on May 5, 1922 son of the late Hardy Langston and Blanche Moore Langston in Holland, Va. Mr. Langston attended public school in the Nansemond County School District. After graduating from high school, Mr. Langston was drafted. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was honorably discharged after serving his tour of duty as a Master Sergeant. Mr. Langston attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. and majored in Industrial Arts. After completing his studies at Virginia State, he was employed as an Equipment Repairman by the U.S. Civil Service. He maintained this position for 37 years and retired from Dover AFB in 1985. He received many citations and accolades while working with the U.S. Civil Service. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Cheryle Thompson of Dover; two sons, Kenneth Langston of Milford, and Jeffrey Langston and his wife Annette of Schwenksville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Tiaja Langston of Dover, and Jordan C. Langston of Schwenksville, Pa.; one sister, Ledora Everett and husband Phillip of Suffolk, Va.; one brother-in-law, Benjamin Haywood, of Denville, N.J.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 888 Lincoln Street and Gibbs Drive, Dover Del. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 West Division Street, Dover. Letters of condolences may be sent tobenniesmithfuneralhome.com.
