(nee Metcalf), 90
FELTON, Del. - Anne K. Machen (nee Metcalf) died on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in her home with her loved ones by her side.
Anne's memory is carried on by her son, Donald of Tampa, Fla.; her four siblings, her six grandchildren and her eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in dead by her parents; her loving husband of 52 years, Donald; their son, Michael.
Born in Evergreen, Ala. on August 14, 1931 to Audrey and Oyer Metcalf. She met the love of her life Donald G. Machen at 14 and married him at 19. They had two sons and together the four of them made their home wherever the U.S. Air Force stationed them.
Anne was a room mother and substitute teacher at all the schools her two sons attended over the years.
Their final assignment brought them to Dover Air Force base. For over a decade Anne & Don owned and operated Don's DelTronics in Camden, Del.
After retiring they left Camden and moved to Felton, Del. to pursue their dream of living together on their own farm. She canned the very best apple butter, made from the apples grown on their farm. Anne was an award-winning knitter & an absolute magician of a seamstress; making gowns, sweaters, hats, scarves and slippers for her loved ones and friends.
Anne could cut a rug like nobody's business, bake the best cookies, create the comfiest slippers and gave the best hugs. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be so deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
