Anne C. Mockbee, 83
LEWES - Anne C. Mockbee of Lewes died peacefully Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in Westminster Village, Dover, where she had resided since Jan. 2006. She was 83.
Mrs. Mockbee was born April 10, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Gennaro and Florence Baccari.
She resided in Long Island, N.Y., Seaford and West Chester, Pa., before retiring to Lewes in 1985.
She was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, vivaciousness and enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, knitting, calligraphy and cooking - especially for her family. She had a flare for creative interpretation of scrabble rules and enjoyed walking with her best companion, Elmo, the dog. She touched many lives and was loved by all who knew her. She was the strength of her family, who love and miss her. She always was there for each of her children and will remain a part of their lives. She will be missed by all of her friends at the Lewes Senior Center and in Angola By The Bay.
After retirement, she volunteered her time at the Lewes Senior Center and attended Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Oak Orchard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Mockbee, in 1992; a brother, Hugo; two sisters, Olga and Sylvia; a grandson, Michael Kohler; and her good friend, John Maruskin.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Stephen M. and Maria Mockbee of Chadds Ford, Pa; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joan Murray and her companion, Gordon Grimes, of Baltimore, Vickie and Larry Buckles of Dover, Denise Mockbee of Denver, and Kim and Leo Faucette; six grandchildren, Geoffrey Mockbee, Michelle Mockbee, Teddy Mockbee and Matthew Kohler, all of Chadds Ford, David Murray of Baltimore and Gabrielle of Wilmington; and two brothers, Charles and John.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Lewes Senior Center, 310 Nassau Park Road, Lewes, DE 19958; or Heartland Hospice Services, 261 Chapman Road, Suite 100, Newark, DE 19702.
