Anna Mae (Griffith) McLaughlin, 77
CRUMPTON, Md. - Anna Mae (Griffith) McLaughlin of Crumpton died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, in Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 77.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born April 8, 1929, in Greensboro, daughter of the late Randolph and Helen (Poore) Griffith.
She married Wilbert Bennett McLaughlin Sr. on May 23, 1946. They moved to Baltimore, where she raised her family.
Mrs. McLaughlin never lost her close ties to the Eastern Shore and more recently she and her husband moved from Baltimore to Crumpton.
She enjoyed traveling, participating with the Jolly Club and most of all spending time with her family.
Mrs. McLaughlin was active with both her family and community. She was the vice president of Communities Working Together, a project of Westport Improvement Association. She also served as sergeant at arms with the Jolly Club in Baltimore County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Thomas; a great-grandson, Dylan McLaughlin; two brothers, Marion Griffith and Harvey Griffith Sr.; and a sister, Margaret Cannon.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wilbert Bennett McLaughlin Sr.; four sons, Wilbert McLaughlin Jr. of Virginia, Warren McLaughlin Sr. of Baltimore, George McLaughlin Sr. of Chestertown and Joseph Thomas of Ridgley; three daughters, Josephine Thompson of Kentucky, Bonny Burr of Crumpton and Wendy Seekford of West Virginia; three sisters, Leila Perry of Preston, Mary Collins of Federalsburg and Elizabeth Neppert of Preston; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy McLaughlin, Eddie Linthicum, Kenny Burr, Benny Burr, Danny Seekford, David Seekford and Warren McLaughlin Jr.
Burial will be in Crumpton Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Crumpton Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 68 Crumpton, MD 21628.
