CHESWOLD - Anna M. Bettie Davis passed away on June 15, 2021 in Post Acute Medical Hospital, Dover, Del.
Bettie was born on May 1, 1926 in Still Pond Neck, Md., daughter of the late Mahlon and Ruby Leaverton Taylor. She was a 1944 graduate of Chestertown High School where she was active with her class. She worked as a lab tech for LaMotte Chemical Company for 25 years retiring in 1991. Her memberships included Still Pond U.M. Church, Cheswold U.M. Church where she sang in the choir, Modern Maturity Center, life member of Post 652 VFW Auxiliary, Millington and Red Hat Society. Bettie loved music, dancing and was a supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.
She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James N. Fogwell; 2nd husband, James K. Davis; daughter, Linda Lee Stokes; and nine siblings, Helen Hurlock, Ruby Britt, Josephine Westbrook, Minnie Bedwell, Edward Taylor, Wm. Maxwell Taylor, Lydia Besse, James A. Taylor and Mahlon Buddy Taylor, Jr.
Bettie is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Kirwan, her companion Bill Larkin; son in law, Kevin Stokes; five grandsons, David, Eric, James and Stephen Nitsch and Jamie Reed; eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md. where funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Burial in Still Pond Cemetery.
