Anna Elizabeth Coker passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. Anna was born on May 18, 1930 to the late Margaret Carney Loatman and Samuel Loatman in Bridgeton, New Jersey.
Anna was a secretary at DAFB base supply, a ward clerk at DHCI, and worked for the Capital School District before retiring in 1987. In Cheswold, Anna was especially dedicated to her community. She was a member of the Immanuel Union Methodist Church, Cheswold Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary, Retreads Motorcycle Club, Delaware Art League and, a past council member of the Lenape Indian Tribe of Delaware. In her free time, Anna was an avid crafter and seamstress. Her greatest passion was her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Anna is preceded in death by husband, Carlton, Sr., her son Alonzo Coker and her grandson Adam Coker; brothers, James Loatman, and John (Margaret) Loatman, and sisters, Thelma Mosley, Beatrice (Jim) Munson, Isabell (Ralph) Durham and Betty (Albert) Durham.
Anna is survived by five sons, Carlton D. Coker, Jr., Dennis J. Coker of Cheswold, Curtis S. Coker (Phyllis Spiering) of Willow Grove, Christopher S. Coker of Dover, Peter D. Coker of Cheswold and her daughter, Carla Coker of Dover and daughter in law Marian Parrish Coker of Dover. Her grandchildren, Samuel B. Coker, Kari Maracle, Anthony (Marianne) Coker, Ryan (Janiece) McNamire, Christopher (Tammy) McNamire, Myloni Paige Coker, Alonzo (Julie) Coker, Sarah Coker, Brandon S. Coker, Peter Coker II, Brynn Coker, Connor Verbanas and Tabitha Sammons Morris. Sixteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call two hours prior. Interment will follow at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. and Vitas Hospice.
