Ann L. Reed, 76

SMYRNA - Ann L. Reed, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully in her residence on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, with her loving family by her side. She was 76. Born on Dec. 24, 1932, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Edwardine (Lloyd) Traverse. Mrs. Reed retired from the Appoquinimink School District in January of 2000, where she proudly served as a school bus driver for 43 years. During most of those years, she transported kindergarten children to and from school in the Townsend area and nurtured them with lots of love. Many years later, those same children recall wonderful stories of how Mrs. Reed provided them with safe transportation and shared her genuine love for children. She was a mentor to many and unselfishly shared her love with all. Ann loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found great pleasure in talking with her many friends on the telephone and enjoyed shopping, watching the Middletown High School football games, and watching the season's MOT Big Ball games. On many occasions, she could be seen driving her golf cart to and from each of her children's homes. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Clarence D. Reed; a son, Larry W. Reed and a grandson, Kendall W. Reed. She leaves many wonderful memories to her daughter, Carol L. Eckler; her four sons, Clarence D. Reed, Robert D. Reed Sr. and his wife Jennifer, Ronnie J. Reed Sr. and his wife Robin, and Jerry L. Reed and his wife Cathy, all of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren, Bryan and his wife Jennifer, Jody and her husband Ryan, Mindy and her husband Greg, Michelle and her husband Lucas, Ronnie Jr., Casey and her husband Zach, Tracy, Holly, Robert Jr., and Eric; her eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Jared, Brianna, Lucas, Colby, Savannah, Lily, Lacy and Camrynn; and a sister, Ethel Collins of Millington, Md. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to service and on Sunday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown. Online condolences may be sent to www.daniels-hutchison.com.
