Alton Mobley

Felton - Alton Mobley, Jr. passed away Jan. 24, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 16, 1938, in Limestone Township, Duplin County, N.C., to the late, Joseph Alton Mobley and Leona Batchelor.
Alton served proudly in the United States Air Force, before beginning his career as a furniture salesman for Outten Brothers Furniture for 37 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, cars, dancing, crabbing and barbequing.
He was a Member of Delaware Veterans Post 2, Dover, Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, B. P. O. Elks, and American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Loney Batchelor; two sisters, Nancy Mobley and Mary Elizabeth Rackley; and a brother, William "WJ" Mobley.
Alton is survived by his companion of nearly 20 years, Grace Van Name; his four children, Michael Mobley and wife, Marlyn, Johnny Mobley, Erin Guerke and husband, Casey; and step-daughter, Heather Morton; four grandchildren, Brooke Mobley, Michelle Walls, Ava and Isabelle Guerke; and a great-grandchild, Gabriel Walls-Ortiz.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Delaware Veterans Post # 2, 720 Pear St., Dover. Private burial was held in Jeff Lanier Cemetery, Beulaville, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Veterans Post 2, Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 417, Dover, DE 19903.
