Alphonso Sylvester 'Seal' Davis, 62
MILFORD - Alphonso Sylvester "Seal" Davis of Milford died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 62.
Mr. Davis was born June 7, 1944, son of the late James and Helen Davis.
He attended Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and William Henry High School. At William Henry, he was known as an outstanding athlete with superb athletic abilities.
His jobs included 17 years of work as a laborer at the Doxsee Clam Factory in Lewes and 24 years of work as an attendant at the Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. At the school, his health failed and he was forced into retirement after surgery.
Mr. Davis married Latricia Lake Dec. 24, 1968, and had three children.
He was a fun-loving man with a good heart and enjoyed helping and making others laugh. He never harmed anyone. He loved working to support his wife and children.
Mr. Davis often talked about the Lord, and his profound beliefs in Jesus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Latricia; a son and a daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda Davis of Felton; a daughter, Paula of Dover; a sister, Audrey Trotman of Milford; a brother, James Davis of Newark; a sister and a brother-in-law, Elva and Scott Turner of Dover; a beloved mother-in-law, Dorothy Lake of Milford; a beloved aunt, Rebecca Davis of Milford; seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Diane and Austin Harris of Felton, Janice and Junior Warren, all of Felton, Debbie and Pete Bagwell of Millsboro, James and Willa Lake of Connecticut, Valerie and Gene Lake of New York, Ronald Lake of Pennsylvania and Joyce Lake of Milford; four grandchildren, Charles Benson, Bruce Davis, Dorsey Davis and Eboni Davis; two great-grandchildren, Tony Davis and Zayia Davis; a host of nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Victoria Davis of Milford; and four very special friends, Clarence "Big Brother" Harris, Anthony Harris, Angel Watson and Rennie Bailey, all of Milford and Patsy Young of Ellendale.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Enon Baptist Church, 600 Church St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
