MILLVILLE - Allen B. Clark, age 88, of Millville, formerly of Easton, Md., and Dover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. Mr. Clark was born in Denton, Md., on Aug. 21, 1923, son of the late Alfred and Bertha (Davis) Clark. Allen served for 20 years as a minister in the Wesleyan Church serving charges in Easton, Md., and Dover. He then served as a professor of history at Wesley College in Dover for 22 years. Mr. Clark was also the curator at Barratt's Chapel and Museum for several years in Frederica. Allen was a true historian, publishing books dealing with the history of the Delaware Amish and the Methodist Church. Mr. Clark was an ordained elder in the Wesleyan Church and an Associate Member of Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View. He was also a member of the Northeast Jurisdictional Conference of Archives & History of the Methodist Church and lectured for the Delaware Humanities Forum. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Althea (Daisey) Clark; two sons, Brent Clark and his wife Betsy of Ocean View, and Bryant Clark and his wife Alice Klein of Clarksville; a sister, Elizabeth Phillips of Millville, N.J.; two grandchildren, Sarah Daisey Clark and Benjamin Clark; and six nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where the funeral will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Philip Lawton will officiate. Interment will follow at Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.
