Alice G. Bloom

FELTON - Alice G. Bloom passed away peacefully, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015. Mrs. Bloom was born in Wilmington, Del. to the late George F. and Anna E. Connor. She served as a Management Analyst at Dover Air Force Base, Del. for 25 years. During her 25 years of service she consistently demonstrated a superior commitment to providing the military and her organization the absolute best. She received the Air Force outstanding Civilian Career Service Award for her distinguished years of service. Mrs. Bloom received several other awards such as, the Air Force Management Engineering Agency Civilian of the Year, Civilian Executive Support Technician, and the Dover AFB Outstanding Federal Civilian Woman of the Year. Mrs. Bloom was a member of the Air Force Logistics Management Engineering Team (AFLOGMET). Her studies resulted in saving manpower requirements which equate to $6.9 million annually. She facilitated an Air Force directed workshop that identified a potential savings to the Air Force of over $5.4 million annually. Mrs. Bloom loved her family, her country, and enjoyed traveling and gardening, especially flowers. She thoroughly loved music, writing, reading and painting. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan like her husband, Don. Mrs. Bloom was very passionate about her Irish Heritage, too. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald D. Bloom, Sr., Nov. 10, 2015, grandson, Clint McHale, siblings, Dolly Connor, Colleen Bloxom, Katherine M. Bilbrough, and George F. Jr. She is survived by her children, Robin Bloom of Chandler, Ariz., Michael Bloom and his wife Shirl of Felton, Del., Kelly McHale of Chandler, Ariz., Deb Brown and her husband Lee of Dover, Del., Donald D. Bloom, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Felton, Del.; grandchildren, Czar, Josh, Matt, Justy, Desi, Chels and Shi; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Noel, Clayton and Elias, a sister, Patricia Severson, and a brother, Atlee Connor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 522 Main Street, Marydel, Md., 21649. Interment will be held for both Mr. & Mrs. Bloom with full military honors, Tuesday, 1 p.m., Nov. 24, 2015 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE,. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
