DOVER - Alfonso G. Bifano, of Dover, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his residence. He was 74.
Mr. Bifano was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., son of the late Demetri and Antoinette Bifano.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was assigned to the honor guard team at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery.
Upon discharge from military service, Mr. Bifano resumed his position with Delco Remy, a division of General Motor Corp. of North Brunswick, N.J., where he was employed until his retirement in 1993.
Upon his retirement, he moved from Old Bridge, N.J., to Dover.
Mr. Bifano was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed moments spent with his family and friends.
He enjoyed bowling, baseball and casino games.
Mr. Bifano will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean (Sotallaro) Bifano of Dover; a son, Stephen A. Bifano of Chatham, Ill.; a daughter, Kim Marie A. Steinert of Clayton; two brothers, Orlando Bifano of Fishkill, N.Y., and Daniel Bifano of Vermont; and four grandchildren, Scott T. Steinert and Melissa N. Steinert, both of Clayton, and Nicholas D. Bifano and Alexandra J. Bifano, both of Chatham.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, South State Street, Dover.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
