Sleva, Sr., 84 MILFORD - Albert Joseph Sleva, Sr., 84, of Milford, formerly of Boothwyn, Pa., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Kent General Hospital. Albert was born on February 18, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Charles L. and Marjorie M. Sleva. He enjoyed a successful career as a horseman. Al was a member of the US Trotting Association. For many years he worked as a trainer, breeder, ferrier and sulky racer. He was a respected mentor at many tracks throughout the country. Al was always offering a helping hand. He was especially proud of the time he spent working with the Navajo on the Reservation in Arizona. He worked on the movie set for Cimarron in the 1960's. He served in the Air Force. Al was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Ann Sleva; siblings, Charles W., James N., and Lois J Corcoran. He is survived by his brother, Robert K. (Jean); his children, Albert J. Sleva Jr. (Lori), Darlene Freeman (Billy) and Gail Angelucci (Scott); his grandchildren, Joseph Sleva, Thomas Sleva, April Wynn (John), Staci Dutton (Eric), Daniel L. Anderson II, Lauren Anderson & Brandon Anderson; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 6 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford where friends may call after 5 p.m. Burial will be private.
