Albert A. Wilson, 88

CENTREVILLE, MD - Albert Augustus Wilson, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, Easton, Md. He was 88. Born Oct. 2, 1920 in Ashley, De., he was the son of the late Robert and Nellie Myers Wilson. He attended Conrad High School in Wilmington. Prior to joining the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he played traveling baseball and football. During the time he served in the military he flew with "Joho's Jokers" as a tail gunner, from the United States to Europe and flew 25 missions with the same pilot. Following his release from active duty he worked many jobs in Delaware, including tool die maker, roofer, toll taker, railroad worker and a caretaker for the DuPont family. Mr. Wilson was the significant companion for over 50 years of Josephine Dutton, who preceded him in death in 1991. He was a member of Five Points VFW in Wilmington. Mr. Wilson is survived by a granddaughter, Patrice Beck and her husband, John; great-granddaughters, Kara Snyder and Dawn Fraser; great- great grandson, Jackson Snyder, all of Centreville; a sister, Jean Bergeron and her husband, Mil of Middletown; nephew, Jack Wilson and his wife, Dot of Newark; and a niece, Catherine Symonds of Green Castle, Md. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City. Memorial donations may be made to the Queen Anne's County Home Delivered Meals, 104 Powell St., Centreville, MD 21617. Arrangements are by the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.
