HARRINGTON - Alan P. Challis, 87, of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Alan was born in England the son of the late Albert and Lily (Moore) Challis. He immigrated to the United States in 1957, then became a U.S. citizen. He worked as a tool and dye maker for American Can Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Faith Community Church in Dover and he and his wife Katherine were active members of the Harrington Senior Center for many years. He enjoyed gardening and putzing around the house and yard. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Katherine Edith Challis; a daughter, Patricia Challis; a son, Alan C. Challis; nine grandchildren; his brothers; and special friends, Sue Dunn, Elsie Dear, and Bob and Lettie Graves. A Celebration of Alan's Life will be held later in the year and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
