SMYRNA - Willis J. Duckery, Sr., also known as "Will D.", age 57, of Smyrna, was called to rest in Rock Hall, Md., on Monday, August 15, 2016. Will D. was born May 4, 1959 in Chestertown, Md. He is survived by his wife, Josephina A. Duckery; sons, Willis J. Duckery, Jr. and Quintin X. Duckery, Smyrna; mother, Helen S. Harris, Rock Hall, Md.; brothers, Lynn (Cheryl) Harris, Woodbridge, Va., Alvin A. (Alana) Harris, Newark; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis J. Harris, Sr.; his brother, Michael Rochester; his first wife, Karen Lewis Duckery; and his adoptive parents, Wilbert C. and Elsie E. Duckery. Will D. attended Kent County High School, Worton, Md.; Bowie State, Bowie, Md. and earned a computer technology degree in Washington D.C. In 1982, he joined the U.S. Air Force attending basic training in San Antonio, Texas. He was subsequently stationed at Malmstrom AFB, MT; Soesterberg AB, The Netherlands; Dover AFB, and McGuire AFB, N.J. In addition, he was a Desert Storm veteran who served at King Salman, AB Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During his military career, Will D. was a Director of Morale, Welfare and Recreational Services; a Superintendent of Plans and Force Management, and he assisted Mortuary Affairs Operation with multiple mass casualty situations. MSgt. Willis J. Duckery, Sr., retired from the U.S. Air Force, at McGuire AFB in 2002. Throughout his life, he pursued passions, such as fishing, hunting, and enjoyed playing baseball and football. During his assignment in The Netherlands, he played baseball and football for The Woldhounds Teams. He also played and coached Dutch professional football for The Amsterdam Rams and The Lelystad Lizards, until his military assignment there ended in 1989. He became a successful multi-faceted entrepreneur who established several businesses in Kent County, Del. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his natural love for people. A man of decisiveness, consistency and strength! Will D.'s faith rests in God The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
