LAUREL - William "Joe" Stoakley, age 88, of Laurel went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2010. Joe was born on Nov. 6, 1921, in Laurel to his late parents William and Mary Stoakley. Mr. Stoakley is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Mary Short Stoakley; his sons, Dean J. Stoakley, Darryl Stoakley, and Douglas Stoakley; daughter, Diane Urban and husband Joe W. Urban I; grandchildren, Blair Stoakley, Ryann Urban, Joseph Urban II, and Joshua Urban; his pet cat, Knight; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, where a viewing was held one hour prior. The Rev. K. Wayne Grier officiated. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.
