William 'Billy' Sheldon, 49
LEWES - William "Billy" Sheldon, of Lewes, died peacefully at his residence on Monday, March 3, 2008. He was 49.
Billy was born Aug. 27, 1958, in Wilmington.
He was a graduate of Claymont High School and held an associate's degree in criminal justice.
Billy was a former member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a line officer.
In his free time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and driving his truck known to all as "Big Red."
One could always find Billy during football season on the sofa watching his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Billy was a kind soul who was always there to help family, friends or strangers in need.
He was a dedicated and loving father and husband to his daughter, Brittany, and wife, Kim.
Billy will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother, Carol Sheldon of Lewes, he is survived by his wife, Kim (Morris) Sheldon; his daughter, Brittany Sheldon and her fiance Bruce Benton Jr., both of Lincoln; his stepson, Ryan Austin Toohey of Lewes; his brother, David "DD" Sheldon and his wife JoanCarol of Millsboro; his sister, Cathy Trethewey and her husband Bruce of Finksburg, Md.; and his nephews, Matthew and Michael Trethewey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clark "Pete" Sheldon.
A celebration of Billy's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Conley's United Methodist Church, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes, where friends may call starting at 1 p.m. Pastor Randy Booth will be officiating.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163; or the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Lewes.
