HARRINGTON - William S. Griffith passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at the Delaware Hospice Center of Milford. Mr. Griffith was born in Felton to the late John Griffith and Bertha Clark.
Mr. Griffith served his country proudly in the Army National Guard of Delaware. He worked over seven years for Draper-King Cole of Milton as a salesman. From there he started his own trucking business hauling produce and bulk in connection with Wolters Truck Lines. After 15 years of doing this, he decided to go to work for Wolters as an assistant manager, which he did for three years until such time that he bought and owned the Dover Restaurant. Unfortunately, after three months, he had to sell the restaurant for health reasons. After his recovery, he went to work as a licensed realtor for Peninsula Realty, and owned and operated school buses until his retirement.
When he was not busy at work, Mr. Griffith liked to fish, hunt, and travel in his motor home. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and husband. He always put his family first and was always thinking of his children and grandchildren before himself, and willing to sacrifice for them. Before his wife passed, he was very involved along her at the Dover Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Griffith.
He is survived by his son, William Michael Griffith and wife Ruth; daughter, Patricia "Trish" Jones and husband John; sisters, Evelyn Vadeboncur and Rosalie (Ed) Walton; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Harrington. Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to send flowers or sign condolence book.
