CHESTERTOWN, Md. - William O. Coxon Jr., of Chestertown, died on June 19, 2011, at Chester River Manor in Chestertown. He was 84. He was born in Baltimore, Md., on April 11, 1927, the son of the late William Otto Sr. and Mary Pauline Willheim Coxon. In 1929 the family moved to Rock Hall, Md., where in 1944 Mr. Coxon graduated from Rock Hall High School. He married Frances L. "Renee" Taylor of Chestertown, on Dec. 3, 1949. Mr. Coxon worked with his family on their farm in Piney Neck until 1970 when he joined Andelot Farm outside of Chestertown. He worked as head herdsman until he retired in 1989. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and many other agricultural organizations. Mr. Coxon was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was very active throughout his life. He served as President of the Congregation and through the years served in several council positions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with friends. His dedication to the farming profession was only superseded by his love for family. In addition to his wife, Renee, of 61 years, he is survived by his children, William O. Coxon III and his wife Beth of Chestertown, Douglas Coxon of Abingdon, Carol Jones and her husband George of Rock Hall, Joyce Gustafson and her husband Carl of Nottingham, Pa.; his sister, Ruth Brice Wilson of Chestertown; along with nine grandchildren, Heather Berrier, Holly Berrier, Jessica Jones Hearn, Kathrin Holubowicz, Billy Coxon IV, Heidi Coxon, Carl Gustafson, Brad Gustafson, and Jake Coxon; and two great-grandchildren, Will Coxon V and Alyssa Berrier. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Coxon Berrier; and two sisters, Dorothy Coxon Crouch and Lillian Coxon Jacob. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chestertown. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday evening, June 23 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m., at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Interment will be in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
