Starkey, 85 CHESTERTOWN - William L. "Bill" Starkey died Wednesday June24, 2015 in the Shore Hospital center, Chestertown, Md. Mr. Starkey was born in Cheswold, Del. The son of the late Carl and Raddie Morris Starkey. Mr. Starkey retired in 2002 as a Senior Claims Specialist for the State Farm Insurance Co. working out of there Dover, Del. office. Mr. Starkey was a graduate of Millington High School, and worked in the Millington area until entering the Air Force in 1950. He came home to Millington to work on the family farm and in 1955 became a Maryland State Trooper. After a couple of years serving the state he became involved in the insurance and claims industry and remained there the rest of his working career. Mr. Starkey enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, in the old Bi-State-League in Chestertown and Easton, he also enjoyed playing soccer. His true life's endeavor was golf. He joined and remained a member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club since 1960. Was a former member of the Millington Lions Club and the Millington Vol. Fire Co. he is also a current member of the Chestertown Lions Club where he served in nearly all club offices, the Frank Jarman American Legion Post #36, Chestertown, Md. and was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Chestertown, Md. In addition to his parents, Mr. Starkey is predeceased by a sister, Jean Lee. He is survived by his wife of 31 yrs., Marlene Starkey; sons, Gregory K. Starkey and his wife, Isabel of Stevensville, Md., Gary S. Starkey and wife, Lisa of Arnold, Md. and William "Hank" Starkey and wife, Kim of Centreville, Md. Also surviving are son, David Kelly and wife, Serenity of Chestertown, Md.; and daughter, Susan Ingersoll and husband, Bill also of Chestertown, Md.; grandchildren surviving are, Robert Applefeld, Lauren, Bryan, Stephen, Rachel and Sarah Starkey, Frank and Hunter Kelly and Clare and Lila Ingersoll. He is also survived by one sister, Cindy Bailey of Smyrna, Del. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 27th. 2015 at 11 a.m. in the trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood Ave. Chestertown Md. where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Friends and family are also invited to visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, Md. Interment will follow the services in St. Paul's cemetery, Chestertown, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 101 Greenwood Ave. Chestertown, Md. 21620
