FEDERALSBURG, Md. - William Harold Weir of Federalsburg passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 89.
He was born in Bantry, N.D., son of the late William H. and Mary Estelle (Duffy) Weir.
Mr. Weir was a sergeant with the Maryland State Police, Easton Attachment, until he retired in 1976 after having served 33 years. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living retired Maryland state trooper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Montgomery) Weir, in March 2001.
He is survived by two daughters, Jean (Weir) Moyer of Sebring, Fla., and Linda (Weir) Tritapoe of Easton; a son-in-law, Arnold R. Moyer III of Sebring; two sisters, Dorothy Gauzza and Lillian Standard; and four grandchildren, Arnold R. Moyer IV and Melinda Moyer, both of Atlanta, Tara Tritapoe of Cambridge and John David Tritapoe Jr. of Easton.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Spring Hill Cemetery, S. Aurora St., Easton.
The Revs. David Heistand and Ronald Bell will officiate.
