
GREENWOOD - William Fleischauer, Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 11, 2018 at his home.
He was the son of the late William Sr. and Edna Morgan Fleischauer.
Bill served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a tail gunner in a B-26, while returning from a bombing mission he was shot down and became a POW.
He owned and operated Fleischauer Funeral Home from 1953 until the early nineties; he also owned and operated Greenwood Lumber Company. Later in life he became an ordained minister and was instrumental in starting what is known today as Hickory Ridge Community Church in Greenwood.
Bill was a charter member of the Farmington VFC, and the Greenwood VFW Post.
He also was a member of the Greenwood VFC, Greenwood Kiwanis Club, and he graduated from Greenwood High School class 1941.
His main passion in life was telling people about Jesus Christ, and living for Him on a daily basis.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Fleischauer III.
Bill is survived by the love of his life Nadine who he married in 1944 and they had a love affair for nearly 74 years; two children, Eileen (Randy) Haith and Gregory (Charlotte) Fleischauer; a daughter-in-law, Donna Fleischauer; grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, May 18, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market Street, Greenwood, DE 19950 and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hickory Ridge Community Church, 12237 Sussex Hwy., Greenwood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
