Wesley S.Thompson Sr., 74

MILLVILLE, N.J. - Wesley S. Thompson Sr., of Millville, died unexpectedly early Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at his home. He was 74.

Born in Cedarville, Lawrence Township, he was the son of the late Howard Cuff Sr. and Amanda Thompson.

Mr. Thompson had been a resident of Millville for most of his life.

He was formerly employed as a mechanic for the city of Millville until his retirement.

Mr. Thompson also previously worked in the plumbing and heating field for several area companies, including Bailey Fuel Co., Tirell"s Plumbing and Heating, and Woodruff Oil Co.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton.

Mr. Thompson enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margarite Young and Arlene Clark; and one brother-in-law, Hiram Young.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan L. (nee Hayman) Thompson; his seven children, Wesley Greene of Ohio, Gilbert Thompson and his wife, Sherry of Vineland, Wesley Thompson Jr. of Millville, Jeffrey Thompson and his wife Kellie of Vineland, Beverly Steward and her husband, Emerson of Millville, Linda Mosley and her husband, Oscar of Felton, Del., and Angela Lopez and her husband, Javier of Vineland; one brother, Howard Cuff Jr. and his wife, Diane of Stow Creek; 22 grandchildren, Gilbert Thompson Jr., Stephanie Steward, Melissa "Lisa" Steward, Emerson Steward Jr., Steven Steward, Daniel Wesley Steward, Jennifer Banks, Wesley Thompson III, Damaso Thompson, Adrianna Mosley, Robert Mosley, Christopher Mosley, Jazmine Mosley, Amanda Mosley, Lisa Burke, Michael Mosley, Karen Stubbs, Javier Lopez Jr., Rebekah Lopez, Anjali Lopez, Jordan Thompson, Seth Thompson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Assembly of God Church, 1700 Wheaton Ave., Millville, where friends may call one hour prior.

The Rev. Gerritt Kenyon, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Interment will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sray-Webster Funeral Home, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll"s Corner, Upper Deerfield Township.
