Wayne E. Hitchens

BRIDGEVILLE - Mr. Wayne E. Hitchens passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford. Mr. Hitchens was born in Hitchens Crossroads, Laurel, Del. to the late Linden and Mary Ward Hitchens.
Wayne served his country proudly in the National Guard.
Wayne retired with 33 years of service from E I DuPont of Seaford as a machine operator. After retirement he went to work for the Sussex Guide for 10 years.
Wayne enjoyed many things in life, one of those, being sports of many kinds like in Baseball it had to be the Baltimore Orioles, in Football it had to be either the Green Bay Packers or the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in NASCAR the drivers had to be Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson. He also had a passion for bowling and enjoyed bowling for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hitchens and sister Doris Whaley.
He is survived by his sister, Imogene Records of Lewes; companion Jane Ellis of Bridgeville; her children, Eric Conley of San Antonio, TX, Tim Ellis of Cambridge, Md., and Kim Chance of Bowers Beach; 9 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren; his favorite niece, Karen Rogers; special friends, Noah Adams and Walt Hearn.
Services will take place at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market St., Greenwood, DE, on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors without Borders or your local SPCA.
