Warren C. Sumlin

NEWARK - Warren C. 'Rick' Sumlin, and he was formerly from of Rehoboth. Warren was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. He was born March 13, 1939, to the late Edward and Belle Thrasher Sumlin. Warren was born and raised in Lake Wales, Fla. He attended the public schools of Polk County and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957, where he was the football Captain. He then went on to continue his education at Gibbs College in Saint Petersburg, Fla., where he also played football. He then joined the Armed Forces; after leaving the army, he went to Rehoboth Beach; upon arrival there, he began his career of 40 years at the Dinner Bell Inn, serving many years as a Chef. He then began his career of 10 years working with Emmert Auctions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mae; son, Norman Love; sisters, Fronnie Sumlin Smith, Mary Ferguson, and Lucy Pearl Sumlin Craft. He is survived by his sons, Freddie and Mary Love-Kemper, of Texas, Emory Sumlin, of Orlando, Fla., Warren Sumlin, Jr., of Newark, Eric Sumlin, of Harrington; two daughters, Libby Allen, of Milton, Kimberly and John Webb, of Milton; two sisters, Eddye Sumlin Rivers, of Lake Wales, Fla., Mildred Sumlin Lamar, of Waverly, Fla.; one brother, Albert Williams; grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends; special friends, Butch and Carol Emmert, of Rehoboth. Services will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Sat Feb. 11, 2017, at 1 p.m., 19940 Church St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Friends may call at the church two hours before service.
