Walter Scott "Butch" Clough Jr., 64

CHURCH HILL, Md. - Walter Scott "Butch" Clough Jr. of Church Hill died on Monday, June 11, 2007, in Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He was 64.

He was born in Church Hill on Nov. 3, 1942, the son of the late Walter Scott Sr. and Esther Mae Thompson Clough.

Mr. Clough attended Centreville High School and went to work with Tuck Davidson.

Mr. Clough also worked as a farmer with Dorsey Patchett for more than 50 years.

He later took a position as a heavy equipment operator with Soil Conservation in Queen Anne"s County.

He married Beverly Grimes in 1961, and they were married for 20 years before he remarried to Faith Elborn of Barclay.

He and his wife resided in Price Station, Church Hill.

He was a member of Queen Anne"s County Farm Bureau and enjoyed farming, tractor pulls, steam shows, playing Santa Claus, bluegrass music, and especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two cousins, John Riggs and Leroy Thompson.

In addition to his wife of 15 years, Faith; he is survived by four daughters, Bonnie Clough of Barclay, Penny Shanks of Denton, Lori Clough of Wye Mills, Denise Crossley of Sudlersville; a son, John Vonville of Morgantown, W.Va.; two brothers, John Clough Sr. of Price and James Michael Clough of Centreville; two sisters, Barbara McGinnes of Goldsboro and Donna Clough of Price; and four grandchildren, Emily, Elyssa, Nathan (Nate Bob), and Ethan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Community Center, P.O. Box 718 Centreville, MD 21617; or the charity of your choice.
