SMYRNA - Walter Alfred Nelson, Sr., passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was born Sept. 2, 1929 in Wilmington, Del., the son of the late Carl and Edith Nelson. Mr. Nelson was a retired entrepreneur who was an avid organ player and loved horseback riding and bird watching, especially blue birds. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three sons, Walter, Jr. and his wife Cecelia of Smyrna, Mark and his wife Jean of Atlanta, GA and Todd of Smyrna; 6 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Gracelawn Memorial Chapel, located at 2220 N DuPont Hwy, New Castle, Del. 19720. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with burial will following. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Faith Life Ministries, 418 Rose Dale Lane, Dover, Del. 19904.
