Walker Luff 'Hickey', 85

DOVER - Walker "Hickey" Luff, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover, where he had resided for the last year. He was 85. He was born Jan. 21, 1924 in Dover, son of the late Harvey and Anna (Glanden) Luff. Hickey was an independent truck owner/operator for many years, until his retirement at the age of 70 due to illness. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, heavyweight wrestling and was a NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon. He also loved a chew of tobacco. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marianna Gourley Luff; a son, Donald J. Luff; and siblings, Albert, Jack, Bill, Flossie, Dorothy, Anna and Edith. He is survived by four children, Jimmy Luff of Marydel, Donna "Fay" Dolan of Dover, Greg Luff of Milton, and Jeff Luff and his wife Tina of Marydel; a sister, Frances "Minny" Downs of Dover; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
