WILMINGTON - Verna Olliver James passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018 at Christiana Hospital.
Mrs. James was born May 11, 1923, one of 12 children to the late Frederick A. and Catherine M. Olliver of Dover.
She was an accounting secretary for the DuPont Company for 32 years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. James loved family gatherings at her home in Wilmington and her cottage on the Chester River in Millington, Md. She also enjoyed her collections of Swarovski Crystals and glass porcelain figurines of elephants, birds and woodland animals.
In addition to her parents and seven sisters and four brothers, she was preceded in death by the love of her life her husband Albert "Dick" James and daughter, Barbara E. James.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road #1400, Newark, DE 19713.
