Graduating from Greenwood High School, Velma was not one to sit still for long. In her younger years, she helped her father with his race horses, was a seamstress, and sold Avon. After retiring, Velma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Velma was petite, but feisty, often speaking her mind with a larger-than-life personality. She was independent, often doing her own thing and going where she wanted to go. Velma loved her family dearly, enjoyed eating out, going antiquing, to the casinos, and watching harness racing. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents; Velma was preceded in death by her great grandchildren, Tianna Wisseman and Ray Ray Kinzer.
Velma is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, David Rust; son, John Ottinger Jr.; daughter, Tina Munoz; grandchildren, Kimberly Wisseman, Brittney Smith, Jade Ottinger, Seleana Munoz, Noah Munoz, Olivia O'Steen, Pegasus Vanderwend; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Yoder (LouAnn) and Jerry Yoder (Sherry); several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Yappy.
