Banning
Thurman Charles Banning went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Thurman was born June 13, 1918 to the late Harry and Lizzie Banning of Bridgeville.
He drove a truck for Burris Foods for 22 years and after retirement he drove a tanker for Atlantic Concrete for many years and ran cars for I.G. Burton to PA.
He was a member of Cedar Neck Church and loved all of his brothers and sisters in Christ.
He especially enjoyed attending concerts and listening to CD's of Dave Morgan Music Ministry and was very proud of the work he did for the Lord through the music ministry.
In addition to his parents; Thurman was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 77 years, Leatha Banning; brothers, Edwin Banning and Harry Banning; sisters, Leona Wheatley, Alma Tarpley and Geneva Spence.
He is survived by a special brother-in-law, Bobby Morgan and wife Anna Lee; sister in law, Ruth Boyce; a nephew he raised and was like a son, David Morgan and wife, Jeanie; their daughter, Jody VandenDries and her daughter Morgan; their son, David, Jr. and wife Jenny, and their sons, Ben and Jase. In addition to nephew David, he is survived by a niece, Alisa Loria who lived with him for a short time; two nephews, two nieces and many other nieces and nephews who loved their very special Uncle Thurman. Thurman enjoyed visits from his family, friends and church family. He ended up with nickname, "Mr. Popular" from his caregiver because he had so many visitors and phone calls.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Flowers accepted.
