MILFORD - Thomas Wilmire peacefully lost his fight with cancer on January 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. A special thanks to Delaware Hospice for their dedicated care and support.
Tom was born July 2, 1945 to Ward and Helen Wilmire in Erie, PA. He graduated from Harbor Creek High School in 1964 and entered the Air Force. After serving during the Vietnam War, he was stationed at Dover Air Force Base. Upon military discharge, he remained at Dover Air Force Base with a long career working in the civilian sector. In addition, he was in the Air Force Reserves for 20 years. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.
Tom spent 28 years married to Rose who passed in March 2020. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Both were quick to laugh and enjoyed life together.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially loved to go to Maine with his son Charles. He also loved a good cigar and craft beer. Many Saturday afternoons were spent riding back roads in his truck and smoking a fine cigar.
Tom is survived by his children, Charles (Kim) Wilmire, Amanda (Rob) Hawkins, Lucinda (Ronald) Kitching and Linda (Mike) Eckert and his first wife, Karen Wilmire. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Helen Wilmire, his wife, Rose Wilmire and stepsons Brian and Keith Miller. He is remembered with love by 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Tom will be interred at Millsboro Veteran's Cemetery with military honors. A celebration of life will be held at the Harrington Moose Lodge at a later date to be determined.
