Thomas P. Murphy, 54
DOVER - Thomas P. Murphy, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in Delaware Hospice Milford Center. He was 54. Mr. Murphy was born April 7, 1954 in New York City, N.Y., to Catherine Brickley Murphy and the late Eugene J. Murphy. He moved to Little Egg Harbor, N.J. in 1970. He had worked for 25 years at numerous casinos in Atlantic City as a High-Rise Tech. For 18 years, he worked as a Stationary Engineer at Claridge Casino Hotel. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 68 in New Jersey. After moving to Dover in 2005, he worked for the State of Delaware as a HVAC Specialist in Dover. He worked one year for the Veterans Home in Milford. Mr. Murphy loved boats and fishing and antique cars. He was a neat nick and will be remembered for having the neatest garage. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary Lou Smith Murphy of Dover; daughter, Jillian Gayle Murphy of Gainesville, Fla.; brother, Gene J. Murphy Jr. of Valdosta, Ga.; and his sisters, Karen Palato of Orange Park, Fla., and Carol Stise of Wall, N.J. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
