DOVER - Thomas M. Simon left his family Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. Mr. Simon was born July 6, 1924 in New Kensington, Pa., to the late Mike Simon and Anna Tamer Simon. He served in the United States Air Force for over 35 years, retiring in 1979. After his military career he was OSHA certified at the Base Exchange. He had also worked for four years in security, and was a data processor for the Department of Labor. Mr. Simon enjoyed antiquing, going to auctions, especially Spence's on Tuesday's and Friday's, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, billiards, antique cars and autos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis VanTassell Simon, of Dover; children, Alan Simon (Karen), of Independence, Mo., Steven Simon (Kristi), of Placerville, Calif., Eric Simon, of Carmel, Calif., and Kristine Short (John), of Federalsburg, Md.; grandchildren, Matthew St. Jean (Rachel), of Florida, Corinne St. Jean, and Kirsten Simon; and a great-grandson, Draco St. Jean; and many nieces, nephews, and their families in New Kensington, Pa. He also leaves behind Liz, Tenley, Neya, and Mark, whose strength and compassion were invaluable in his final months. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be private.
