Thomas L. "Tommy" Robinson, 65

WILMIGNTON - Thomas L. "Tommy" Robinson of Wilmington died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. He was 65.

Mr. Robinson was born March 22, 1941, in Seaford, son of the late Edward E. and Mary E. Robinson.

He attended Frederick Douglass School, Seaford.

During the early 1970s, he relocated to Wilmington where he was employed by Greggo and Ferrara as a truck driver. He retired in 2002 after 30 years of dedication.

Mr. Robinson was known for his humorous and hilarious personality, with a heart full of gold. To know him was to love him.

He enjoyed fishing, singing, videotaping, photography, computer technology and spending quality time with his lovely wife and family.

Mr. Robinson was a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church. He was the executive producer and manager of Sights and Sounds Productions and "Deacon Robinson and the Men in the Box."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Robinson Jr.; three brothers, Alfred Robinson, Harrison Robinson and Charles Robinson; and a sister, Sarah Sturgis.

He is survived by the love of his life and the "Apple of His Eye," Mildred E. "Poopsie" Robinson, six children and their spouses, Valerie Malone, Thomazine and Fred Drew, Unikka and Enoch Johnson, Hendrix Anderson, Bradford Matthews and Keria Cain; three brothers and their spouses, Guy and Shirley Robinson, David Robinson, Frank and Thelma Robinson and Samuel Robinson; two sisters and a spouse, Mildred and Charles Spence and Katherine Deshields; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, a devoted nephew, Rick Yancey; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and friends.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Greater St. John Baptist Church, Wilmington.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in M.F. Chase Church, Star Hill.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Gardens, Dover.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
