Thomas Hudson Metz, 93
MAGNOLIA - Thomas Hudson Metz went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, after a short illness, in Christiana Care Hospital. Thomas was born April 19, 1928, in Greensboro, Md., to the late D. Kirby & Helen (Hudson) Metz.
Tom lived in Camden, Del. then Dover, Del., graduating from Dover High School in 1946, where he enjoyed sports and playing in the band. He served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952; and graduated from the University of Delaware in 1956.
Tom worked in the lumber business and in various sales positions, retiring from Hechingers in 1990. He was an active member of Faith Community Church for 37 years, and enjoyed working with children. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing until age 90.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan R. Metz; three sons, Dr. Thomas H. Metz, Jr. & wife, Catherine, John R. Metz, and Richard D. Metz & wife, Tammy; three grandchildren, Richard K. Metz & wife, Jenna, David H. Metz, and Paige N.Metz; and two great-grandchildren, Rylan & Cade Metz.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view one hour before.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, P.O.Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0060 or Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-9956.
