Thomas H.U. Fletcher, 72

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Thomas H.U. Fletcher of Chestertown died Monday, April 9, 2007, in Washington (D.C.) Hospital Center. He was 72.

Mr. Fletcher was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Broad Neck, near Chestertown, son of Naomi Bennett Fletcher and the late Herbert J. Fletcher.

He was a lifetime resident of the Chestertown area, owning several businesses including a produce stand and Fletcher's Exxon. Most recently he was a tanker driver for Tenneco and Velsico chemical companies.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary R. "Sue" Fletcher.

He is survived by two sons, T. Wayne Fletcher and his wife Carolyn of Galena, and Lenny Fletcher and his wife Donna of Chestertown; his mother, Naomi Fletcher Davis and her husband Julian of Chestertown; two sisters, Priscilla S. Wright and Janice Fletcher, both of Chestertown; six grandchildren, Thomas "Peanut" Fletcher, Robert "Bubba" Fletcher, Jason Fletcher, Jayde Meikle, Jennifer Fletcher and Christopher Fletcher; three great-grandchildren, Myles Meikle, Maddie Meikle and Madison Fletcher; and a dear friend, Rose Salter.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be private in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.

Memorials may be offered to Chester River Hospital Center Dialysis Program, 100 Brown St., Chestertown, MD 21620.
