DOVER - Thomas A. Morris, of Dover, was called from labor to reward on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, in Westminster Village, Dover. He was 89.
Mr. Morris was born Feb. 6, 1918, on Dover, the son of the late Clyde and Arthur Morris.
He was baptized at Union Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member for many years.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and spreading the Gospel through song.
From this passion, Mr. Morris founded the Evening Stars Quartet in 1975.
To continue his love of singing, he joined the Christian Travelers in 1994 as their bass singer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepsons, Glendon and Richard Durham; his stepdaughter, Edna Sanders; and grandson, Jason Crump.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Gladys Morris; his son, Joseph and his wife Chastine; daughter, Loretta; stepdaughter, Dolores Mays; sisters, Mary Lewis and Margaret Roach; brother-in-law, Raymond Morgan and his wife Mary Virginia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Morgan; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Union Missionary Baptist Church, 883 Lincoln St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior.
