Theresa Ann O'Bier passed away at Silver Lake Center, Dover on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. Theresa had fought a gallant fight against Alzheimer's for the past two years. Born Aug. 24, 1940 in Granite Falls, Wash. she lived many of her adult years in Taylor, Texas where she worked as an elementary school teacher specializing in Reading. In 2009, Theresa moved to Felton, Delaware. Theresa loved to fish, go to the beach and especially loved attending the Front Porch Program at the Dover Modern Maturity Center. This program specializes in helping Delaware elderly suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer's with activities, outings and socializing.
Survivors include sisters, Cathy (Frank), Dover, Frances (Bob), Columbia, Mo., Loretta Kaminski, Yakima, Wash., Mary (Leon), Topeka, Kan.; brothers. Richard (Nancy) Columbia, Mo., Larry (Shelvie) Conway, Ark.; sister-in-law, Venita Cole Stockton, Kan.; her son, Carl O'Bier and granddaughter Raven O'Bier of Taylor, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by her two brothers, Father Edwin Cole, of Laurie, Mo., Charles Cole, Stockton, Kan.; her parents, Arthur and Genevieve Cole, Metz, Mo.; and her loving son, Michael O'Bier, Taylor, Texas.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Silver Lake Center staff who made Theresa feel like she was home and took excellent care of her every step of her journey. A thank you to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care who provided spiritual guidance through pray and song.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to Dover Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave. Dover, DE 19904 to be used for the Front Porch Program.
