ELLENDALE - Theodore Henry (Ted) Joseph passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home in Ellendale. Ted was born Sept. 12, 1938 in Concord (Seaford, Del.) to Amos and Rose Joseph. He was looking forward to the possibility of celebrating his 80th birthday later this year. Ted was a Food Science Technical Specialist with Kraft/General Foods for more than 30 years. He was proud of his career in food science and loved to share work and travel related stories and lament about the many patents he had received in his career. Locally, Ted was better known for his musical talents. He was a singer/songwriter and a guitarist/musician with the "Blue Jays," "The Generation Gap" and "The Time Machine" along with performing in other arenas, as they were presented, in the Delaware and Maryland area and, a time or two, as far away as Heidelberg, Germany. His performing experience also made him a volunteer job in producing fundraisers for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, of which he was an honorary member, thanks to his wife's lifetime involvement to the fire service. He was dedicated to his career, his family, children and especially, the love of his life, his wife of 47 years Shirley Lea (Ellingsworth Holloway) Joseph, who preceded him in death in 2013, just shy of her 80th birthday. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Cheryl Christy Joseph and Billie Dea Beck; two grandsons, Andrew Joseph Geyer and James Michael Holloway; and his sister, Jane Waller. He is survived by children, Kathy Clendaniel, Benjamin Holloway (Vicki), Gladys Geyer-Jarrel (Dale), Rosemary Joseph-Kappel, and Mandy Walls (Heather); grandchildren, Monica Holloway, Mindy Taylor (Rob), Benjamin Evans (Wendy), Myles Geyer, Jarred Geyer (Danielle), Zeph Geyer, Briona Holloway and Mikayla Juarbe; his brother, James Joseph (Becky); brother-in-law, William "Ducky" Waller; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Interment will be in Ellendale Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: The Andrew Joseph Geyer Memorial Scholarship Fund, Wesley College, 120 N. State Street, Dover, DE 19901; Gee… You Will Project, 702 S.E. 2nd St., Milford, DE 19963.
