MILFORD - Tamara Lynn Herd passed away May 30, 2013 at Christiana Hospital after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Tammy was born May 6, 1961 in Wilmington, Del. to Barbara Sheaffer Gallagher and the late Donald Gallagher. She was a Milford graduate, class of 79'. She was married to William "Bill" Herd for twenty years; they had four children prior to divorcing. Tammy was a childcare provider for over twenty years. Lately, she has been providing elder care and has been employed as the director of the Avenue United Methodist Church nursery, where she is also a member. Tammy loved children and a few of her hobbies included cooking, baking, and shopping. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Gallagher; step-mother, Sara Gallagher; sister, Susan Case and her husband, Mark; daughter and son-in law, Erica and Keith Bauer; three sons, W. Brent Herd, Bradley Herd, Colby Herd; grandson, Alexander Bauer; and good friend of 16 years, Carl S. Jester. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front, Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
