FELTON - Sue Perez, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her Aug. 19, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. She was 55. She was born April 14, 1954, in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of Grace VanName and the late Cornelius VanName Jr. She graduated from Port Richmond High School, and received a X-Ray license from Middle Sex College. She worked at Staten Island University Hospital for 15 years before she moved to Felton to be with her fiancé, David Outten. Soon after moving to Felton, Sue became a imaging tech at Beebe Medical Center. She often spoke highly of her coworkers, especially her boss, Neil. Sue was always the life of every party, and lit up the room wherever she went. She enjoyed having a good time. Sue loved listening to classic/alternative rock, as well as, Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet. She and Dave often would spend the weekends at the Kennersley Yacht Club, where she was a member. They enjoyed their 40' Sea Ray Express and spent many wonderful times with their friends. One of the best times she recalled was when they went to Aqua Palooza. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Betty Flurer of Princess Anne, Md. She leaves many wonderful memories to her three loving daughters, Michele Miller, Diana Passarello, and Kristina Perez; as well as two sons-in-law of New York, Stephen Miller IV, and Daniel Passarello Jr. Sue always found a way to make each moment special for her children. Her children fondly remember trips to Ocean City, Md. and getting ice cream in Crisfield, Md. Sue will dearly be missed by her mother, Grace VanName of Pocomoke City, Md.; and her long time friend, Alton Mobley. Sue is also survived by David Outten's family, Ronnie and Linda Outten, Eva Outten and Don Case, Melanie Suberus, and Benjamin Outten, all of Felton. Sue is survived by her aunts, Jean Outten and her husband Parcie Outten of Pocomoke City, Md., her aunt Grace VanName Griffen, of Ridgewood, N.J., and her aunt, Alma VanName of Florida; her uncle, Henry Flurer of Princess Anne, Md.; her cousins, Brenda VanName Yacca and her husband, Peter Yacca of New York, Becky Galeon and her husband, Mike Galeon of Pocomoke City, Md., Donnie Outten of Pocomoke City, Md, Sheila Flurer Evans and her husband, Mark Evans of Kent Island, Md., Chris Flurer and his wife, Sally Flurer of Washington, D.C.; her long time best friends, Mary Jo Marinello of Felton, Michael Roberts of Felton, Brian Cowles of Florida, and Rose Kruzka of New York; and also with very fond memories, her ex-husband, Hector Perez. She was preceded in death by her Aunt, Betty Flurer, of Princess Anne, MD. A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover. Family and friends may call from 12 noon til time of the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following charities, Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901; and/or Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958, Attn: Tunnell Cancer Center.
