DENTON, Md. - Stuart A. Engle of Denton, Md., died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at his home. He was 65.

He was born in Easton, the son of the late Harvey Secrist Engle and Josephine Constance Quidas Engle.

He was a 1959 graduate of Easton High School, Easton.

Mr. Engle retired as a chief warrant officer from the U.S. Coast Guard on Dec. 31, 1985, after a 26-year career during which he had served in Vietnam.

After retirement, he lived in Denton for 12 years, then moved to Salisbury for seven years, and then lived in Crisfield for nine years.

In February 2006, he and his wife moved back to Denton.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Easton, the Elks Lodge in Easton, the Moose Lodge in Harrington and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Mr. Engle is survived by his wife, Sandra S. Engle of Denton; three sons, Tony Engle of Greensboro, N.C., Bob Engle, of Chesapeake, Va. and Ken Engle of Denton; one brother, Larry Engle of Starr; one sister, Diane Wampler of Monument, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Abby, Lindsey, Torre, Emily, and Brandon.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton, where friends may call one hour before the service.

The interment will be in the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans" Cemetery in Beulah.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
