Steven Michael Fredricks, 67

HARRINGTON - Steven Michael Fredricks, of Harrington, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 23, 2008. He was 67.

He was born Aug. 22, 1940, in Baltimore, to the late George A. and Lillian N. Fredricks.

Steve grew up in the Baltimore area, graduated from the Glen Burnie High School and attended the University of Maryland.

He was an avid fan of the Maryland Terrapins.

Steve was a successful businessman, owning several businesses in the Salisbury area.

He built the Dunkin' Donuts shop, which was one of the first to offer drive-through service on the East Coast.

Steve also was the owner of Merry Maids of Salisbury.

He was an avid sailor and loved to sail his boat Elsa.

He also loved to spend time at the beach, ride motorcycles and work in the yard.

Steve lived a life of service to others, serving on the board of directors of Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington and doing mission work in Haiti, where he supported an orphanage, school and feeding program for Haitian children.

He was a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Choir and participated in several dinner theater productions at the Modern Maturity Center.

Steve is survived by his wife of years, Carolyn Fredricks of Harrington; two daughters, Colleen Fredricks and Pam Murphy, both of Fruitland, Md.; one brother, George A. Fredricks III of Florida; and aunt, Gertrude Blaney of Salisbury, Md.; two stepsons, Robert Fisher and his wife Teresa, and Philip Fisher and his wife Vicki; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends whose lives have all been touched by the love and compassion Steve showed to others.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to services.

Friends may also call from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.

Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Promise Land Building Fund-Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.
