Steve McCeney (Stephen S. McCeney) would have you know that he has fought the good fight, finished his race, and has now entered into the infinite blessing of his Lord Jesus Christ.
This was his, now fulfilled, hope that he shared with many in his ministry of consoling and encouraging others, while here on Earth. He was truly, as anyone who knew him would attest, a quite unique and very salty human being, with a personality somewhat smaller than the planet Jupiter. He loved chatting and showed a genuine interest in just about everyone. He had an unfailing sense of humor with a great gift of wit and a saber-like sarcasm which he employed all his wife, for the amusement of his audience.
While being a radio personality himself, he also had an encyclopedic knowledge of the entertainment industry, which the host of a national radio network regularly relied upon in preparing for celebrity interviews. In his younger years he was employed in security in which he performed life-saving service. Before his retirement, he worked for several years as the much-beloved sales associate for God's Way Thrift Store in Milford and Rehoboth.
Though in his last years he suffered from severe and painful health problems, through which he 'soldiered on' until his last step… into Paradise and his long awaited reunion with his beloved Karen, his fiancé who left this world before their marriage. Many, many will miss him, but let no one mourn his passing into Glory! As Steven often emphasized this world isn't all there is, Praise the Lord.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, James McCeney; and his step-sister, Barbara Lynn Devries. He is survived by his step-siblings, Cornelius Devries, Diane Salen, and Kathryn Coursey; step-mother, Barbara Willin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front Street, Milford, DE, a time of visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Steven's memory can be made to: God's Way Thrift Store, 1 N. Maple Ave., Milford, DE 19963.
