HARRINGTON - Stephen "Chip" E. Yanek, Jr. passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was the son of the late Stephen Yanek Sr. and Pearl Lick.
Chip spent 40 years driving trucks for different companies. The last company he drove for was Fifer Orchards.
Chip was a sweet outstanding man who enjoyed working in the garage, fishing, boating, and helping his son on the race car. He enjoyed the simple things like a quiet night at home or car rides along the waterways. Chip was friends with everyone and there wasn't a person who did not love him. He will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Chip is predeceased by his daughter, Sherry Yanek.
Chip is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Karen Yanek; son, John Yanek; daughter, Jessica Hoffman; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; siblings, David Yanek, George Messinger, Kathleen Smith, and Kathy Polkinghorn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice (made payable to Amedisys Foundation), 20165 Office Circle, Suite 2, Georgetown, DE 19947, in Chips' honor.
Memorial Services will take place at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. A visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.
